Morrinsville Ultimate are very excited to announce our third Morrinsville Hat tournament to be held at the Morrinsville Recreation Grounds! 

As per the traditional Hat format, enter as an individual and indicate your level of experience. You will be put on a team with a range of abilities such that each team is as evenly matched as possible. Hats are a great way to learn more about the game, meet and play with new people, and have heaps of fun!

Time: Sunday 23rd January 2021. Teams will be announced at 9:15am. This will be followed by time to get to know your team and for newer players to learn to throw and play (experienced players on each team are the coaches). First games kick off at 10am, last game finishes 3:30pm, presentations finish by 4pm. 

Location: Morrinsville Recreation Ground.

Food: Lunch will be provided (buffet salad sandwiches and ice cream! Please indicate dietary requirements on your registration.

Facilities: Toilet and change room facilities provided. We will also have water available on each field. There is a pool (Swim Zone Morrinsville) at the grounds so you can take a dip once games are finished. Standard pool fees apply ($6/adult, $4/child). A play ground is also available for little ones.

What to bring: Please bring a white shirt and a dark (black or navy) shirt to play in on the day. Football boots/cleats are the best choice of footwear but runners are fine. Bare feet are not recommended due to the risk of injury as others will be wearing football boots. Please bring a water bottle.

Eligibility: Anyone 11 years and older on the day of the tournament. All levels, from those who have never played to worlds players, are welcome. Contact  if you would like to apply for an exemption for kids younger than 11. 

To register: Click on 'Register' on the left of your screen and follow the prompts. Note that if you have previously played in a league or tournament in NZ you will have a profile on this site. Login or search for your profile using your email address before creating a new profile. Contact  if you have any issues with registration and we can help you or do it for you.

Cost: $25/adult, $15/youth. Youth players are any player 18 years and under on the day of the tournament.

Format: Mixed, 7 vs 7 (female/male ratio to be determined based on the balance of entries).

Rules: Standard WFDF rules apply.

Game length: 40 min with a 5 min half at 20 min. No points cap. Finish the point in play following time cap. Team with the highest score wins. Draws are acceptable with the exception of the semi-final and final, when one further point will be played to decide the game. Teams will play 4-5 games in the day. Note, these criteria may change slightly depending on the number of teams entered.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to Most Valuable Player (female and male), Most Spirited Player, Most Valuable Youth Player, Most Spirited Team, and the winning team.
